The stories for each of the characters are different enough to be interesting yet they are all interconnected so that by playing them all you get the full story of what happened. I love the music, the artwork is amazing and those sound effects (I died laughing when I first heard them because I thought of the people in the sound booth recording them and different ways those effects could be procured). The one thing that I have to say is that for $30 I expected to have ALL of the characters to have a route and was upset that Edward did not have one...his could have been the most exciting and dramatic!! Instead, my pervy self died instantly having to read the child's mandatory route... don't get me wrong it's nice for the backstory but I seriously wanted to walk into the fire!! Please give Edward a route; he deserves one after all the sh*t he has gone through lol!! The crazed and unstable butler is my Fav (btw I was seriously shocked that he didn't kill himself, I really thought that he did and I was kinda sad that he didn't but I got over it when I saw his face)! Also, I kinda wanted to see some more serious yaoi jealousy (possibly though the "use" of the easy chick?) because there were plenty of chances to throw that in there.Despite the two small gripes above this is a good game to have in your collection!! I will be on the lookout for Edward's route And any future projects from you guys...Thank you for your hard work!!. This is my first time writing a review and I absolutely have to say something on this, mainly because many comments made me think weather I should buy this VN or not. I am still not completely done with the VN, but so far I have to say that it's money well spent! I think this game, although a bit dark-ish, is very beautiful in it's own way. I honestly don't see the protagonist as the villan and I don't dislike him at all. I can understand his perspective and I can understand and feel for the other characters as well. There are many VN with villan protagonists who are doing bad things just for the sake of doing them, no meaning or reason behind them, and it bothered me a bit when some people in the comments compared this one to those kind of games (I played them all). This is nothing like that. This is about a emotionally troubled and pretty disturbed man who couldn't let go of things that happened in the past. He is very wrong for doing things in the way that he is doing them, often ignoring any voice of reason, but he is NOT doing that because he is simply "evil". There were so many scenes where Alex shows emotion and I really felt for him. I don't like what he's doing, but I kind of kept hoping that he will turn it around (the feeling that I don't get with pure evil protagonists). I felt for all of the characters, and sometimes I just screamed inside "can't we all just get along and play nice!" I applaude to the creators for bringing this to life. The only con that I would have would be the voice of William.. It gets kind of boring, BUT has no effect to the overall experience of the game.I really love it, really. For people reading this: I won't write any "trigger warnings" and things like that, it's just stupid, what are you doing here after reading the plot summary if you still need some kind of a warning. More importantly, how did you end up in a BL part of the planet if ra.p.ey FICTIONAL things freak you out?I highly recommend! Studio Pieplus - I <3 U. THIS REVIEW WILL ONLY BE HELPFUL IF YOU LIKE KOREAN VOICE ACTORS FROM CHERITZ GAMES AND/OR BLs: seriously. don't read on if you don't like either :xI've just spent way too long updating vndb accordingly to edit and include all of the VAs but...MY GOODNESS.My revelations below. If you don't care for VAs, skip below the horrendous bulleting.VA Comparison below with other otomes in case anyone cared even half as much as I did: Nameless Lance = Alex[**] The Ice Prince is back as a British Gentleman Nameless Yujin = Theodore[**] LOL YAS my favorite glasses-wearing-skeleton-loving Doc is back as another man in uniform...in glasses...with another obsession... Nameless Yeon-ho = Laurence[**] My least Nameless favorite character redeemed as my favorite route in Beyond Eden Nameless Red = Oscar[**] Nameless' Hero of Justice as the next Baron in line and the epitome of a true Gentleman? YAAS Nameless Yuri = Doctor Morris[**] My favorite Nameless character in an even more mature role but...his route wasn't easy to listen/read through because I liked him so much T_T Mystic Messenger Yoosung = Edward[**] This revelation made me gasp. I never really really liked Yoosung but got intrigued with Edward and wasn't disappointed. HOMEBOI NEEDS A ROUTE DEVS While I'm wishing...can the Baron get a route too? :> redemption story? insight into his thinking? mebs? n,n Essentially, if you want to hear these VAs in more mature, adult scenarios and enjoy or don't mind BL, GET THIS GAME. YOU WON'T REGRET IT. So outside of the VA fangirling, the plot is pretty interesting as you can garner from the summary and from other reviews so I won't divulge here. And although there isn't MUCH romance, there is great character development in some of the routes not only for the MC/Alex but for the other characters as well. It's honestly one of those games where I ended up not really playing for the sexual content (although...no complaints :x huhuuu), but I actually wanted to read on and see what the heck some of the characters were thinking/planning/going to do next. also let me just say, based on some of the reviews, i was fearing the ends/routes were going to be soul crushingly awful but they are NO WHERE as bad as I thought. Yes, there's non-con smexy time and one route in particular was a bit hard to read through (my poor Yuri ;_;) but none seriously questioned my sanity or in humanity that made me want to mind bleach the hell out of my memories (cough DMMD COUGH CHOKE COUGH Hadaka ♥♥♥♥♥uji ugh).My only issues would be: Kind of short for a $30+ game and doesn't have full voice acting (even though I went back and chose every single dialogue choice available (because I really wanted to see the different character reactions, worth it!), got every ending, procured every CG and it all took less than 18 hours). Wish they offered subtitles in both the original Korean alongside English The only other issue I had was that some of the endings...didn't feel like endings. Felt like I read the penultimate chapter and the book just ends! I really craved for an epilogue or something with more closure, but maybe they can add DLCs? If so...THAT'D BE PERFECTION.But seriously, this game would be one of my BL favs, potentially rivalling Luckydog, NYT, coming out on top and lowkey DMMD orz So if you like BLs with a bit of intrigue, complex characters, and don't mind not having a lovey dovey romance but still just as satisfying character interactions, get the game or at least test out the demo :]. A complex and intriguing story, beautiful sprite/CG art, and real erotic heat mostly make up for weak background art and (especially) an awful translation. Studio Pieplus: please, please, please have a native English speaker edit your next translation! It's not just that the language is stilted; there are places where the translator wrote literally the opposite of the meaning of the original line. You're asking too much for this game to offer something so unprofessional in this respect.. An absolutely brilliant game. Definitely would recommand it to people who enjoy the genre! My personal score is 120/100 and I admit I haven't even finished it. I have only fully explored one character's story (namely Joshua's) and IT IS AMAZING. I've only just finished it but I am going to play it again right away. I loved everything about it. The story is great. The BEs are gorgeously sinister and nihilistic, while the HE is so bright and indeed hopeful. The character design is also wonderful. Though there may be some cliche, they have done it really well and everyone seems really interesting with their own unique psychological fears and needs. I must admit the Korean voice acting put me off a little bit at first, but I suppose that is simply because I am much more used to Japanese games. It took a little bit of time for adjustment but overall it did not affect my gaming experience. And I suppose... it may not be for the faint of heart? I personally love this kind of story but it's probably not for everyone, despite the fact that it isn't THAT dark. It's quite dark; and has elements that are not for everyone's taste. A matter of personal preferece, though I do feel sorry for those that miss out because of such reasons XD[SPOILERS ALERT]The only thing I am less satisfied with is the fact that... some of the plots still have clear potentials that can be developed further. Jealousy is one that I saw another comment mentioning. The plot with Catherine could easily delve deeper, yet it did not. The actual destruction of the house is another that I would love to see, and I was surprised with the rather abrupt ending of Joshua's BE Blood Sacrifice. It was still good, but the dark momentum that was building up until that point was kind of left hanging after the line ended. And I admit I'm just so malicous that I really want like to see Alex using his tools to break the house apart. There are other instances of such slight fustrations. It is a great game, but I just love it so much I want it to be even greater!. Really loved the darkness of the plot at some points. Would absolutely recommend. Still thinking about this quite often and wish I could play it again for the first time.. Yes yes very nice, victorian dudes smooching each other as part of a revenge plot, 10/10 would unlock all h scenes again. So let me start out by saying... there are not that many male/male dating sims. Especially not ones that are really in deep with complex stories. I did not dislike this game. In many ways I enjoyed it... but it was much pricier than I normally spend on dating sims. For me to spend as much as I did on this game (as it was not on sale) I have certain expectations that it did not mean. I can deal with not having a full english audio, but I cannot deal with the sheer number of spelling and grammer issues. Let me clarify, I am not obsessed with spell and grammer and I am prone to such errors, but for a game as expernsive as this is... the amount of errors was unacceptable. In one route alone I counted about thirty. Some errors changed the meaning of the sentence entirely. My final thoughts are, I would recommend this game but only if you bought it on sale.. Even if I really love BL games (and wish for more BL games to be available on Steam)... I just can't recommend "Beyond Eden".But at first let me say what I liked about it:+ the music isn't something to remember but it sounds good and soothing+ the characters voices are relaxing and they sound professional+ the art is really lovable (and oh how I love some of the pictures)+ there are very different love interests to pick from + the protagonist can be both seme or uke based on the route/choices+ if you like 18+ scenes... well there are many to choose fromNevertheless... now for the reasons why I am disappointed after playing the game:- the protagonist (Alex Wake) is simply an ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥... I didn't want a sweet and innocent protagonist for a story about revenge but there is just no chance for me to like him.. As the player I have to like the main character even a little bit or else I can't enjoy the game- the background story about said protagonist is good and it has some shocking moments but it doesn't justify the things that Alex is doing to his love interests (some of them didn't even do anything wrong to Alex)- I can't understand how some routes are all about Alex r@ping someone and yet there is still a chance for the choosen character to fall in love with Alex.. just how?!- the choices that you have to make while playing are kinda obvious- there should have been more time to talk about the characters and to develop deep feelings between them and Alex- there was so much potential about the story but I have the feeling that it was kinda rushedAll in all it was not really worth the money. That's kinda sad because I waited so long for this game. Nevertheless it had some good sides and I am always happy to support visual novels.(Oh and English is not my mother tongue so if I made any mistakes you can keep them xD)
